In an emergency, or if someone is in immediate danger, call 999

Safeguarding

Our safeguarding commitment

NESN is committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

What we commit to

  • Listening to concerns and taking them seriously.
  • Responding appropriately and without delay.
  • Connecting people with the correct professional or specialist support.
  • Handling information sensitively, lawfully and proportionately.
  • Providing volunteers with training, clear boundaries and support.
  • Reviewing our practice as we learn and as guidance changes.

What we are not

NESN does not replace statutory safeguarding agencies, emergency services or specialist support organisations. We do not investigate allegations, carry out statutory assessments, confront suspected perpetrators or provide clinical, legal or therapeutic services.

Where a concern requires professional intervention or immediate action, people should be directed to the appropriate statutory or specialist service.

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, call 999. For non-emergency police matters, call 101.

Raising a concern

Our Resources & Support directory lists the organisations and services NESN signposts to, including local safeguarding contacts and national helplines.
